One quiet evening, as the golden sun dipped below the horizon, Little Nutbrown Hare was getting ready for bed. He loved bedtime not just because of the soft leaves in his sleeping spot, but because he could spend a little extra time with Big Nutbrown Hare, his favorite companion.

As they sat together under a spreading tree, Little Nutbrown Hare had an idea. He turned to Big Nutbrown Hare, his ears twitching excitedly.
“Guess how much I love you!” he exclaimed.

Big Nutbrown Hare smiled warmly. “Oh, I don’t think I could guess that,” he said.

Little Nutbrown Hare stretched his small arms as wide as he could. “This much!” he said proudly.

Big Nutbrown Hare chuckled. “Well, I love you this much,” he replied, stretching his much longer arms even wider.

Little Nutbrown Hare looked at his own arms, then at Big Nutbrown Hare’s. They were so big! He thought for a moment and stood on his tiptoes. “I love you as high as I can reach!” he said, stretching his arms upward.

Big Nutbrown Hare reached high too. “And I love you as high as I can reach,” he said, his long arms towering over Little Nutbrown Hare’s.

“That’s pretty high,” thought Little Nutbrown Hare. He tried again. “I love you all the way up to the top of the trees!”

Big Nutbrown Hare smiled and looked up at the tall trees. “And I love you all the way up to the moon,” he said, pointing to the glowing moon hanging in the night sky.

“The moon?” gasped Little Nutbrown Hare. He had never imagined anything so far away. “That’s so far!”

Little Nutbrown Hare yawned and snuggled close to Big Nutbrown Hare, who gently laid him down in his cozy nest of leaves. As his little eyes began to close, he whispered softly, “I love you right up to the moon…”

Big Nutbrown Hare leaned down, kissed Little Nutbrown Hare’s tiny head, and whispered, “…and back.”

And with that, Little Nutbrown Hare fell asleep, dreaming of the endless love he shared with Big Nutbrown Hare.
