The House That Wanted Visitors
One Halloween, Emma and her friends decided to explore the spooky house at the end of their street. Everyone said it was haunted, but Emma didn’t believe in ghosts.
As they got closer, the house creaked and groaned. The windows were broken, and the door was hanging off its hinges. Still, Emma wasn’t scared. She pushed the door open, and they all stepped inside.
“See? It’s just an old house,” Emma said, her voice echoing.
But then the door slammed shut behind them. The floor creaked, and suddenly, the walls seemed to move. A cold breeze swept through the room.
“I don’t like this,” Emma’s friend Lily said, her voice trembling.
Just as they turned to leave, a voice came from the walls.
“Stay… please stay,” it whispered.
The friends froze. “Who’s there?” Emma asked, trying to sound brave.
The voice answered, “I’m the house. I’ve been so lonely.”
Emma’s eyes widened. A talking house? “Why do you want us to stay?”
“I used to be filled with laughter and parties,” the house said. “But now, no one visits me. I just want company.”
Emma thought for a moment. “We’ll visit you again next Halloween, but we have to go now.”
The house seemed to sigh. “Promise?”
“Promise,” Emma said. The door opened, and they quickly ran out. From that day on, every Halloween, Emma and her friends made sure to visit the house that just wanted some visitors.
